Makeup Battle is a free casual mobile game that lets you create makeup styles against AI players. Developed by Spark Games Studio, this 3D artsy action game strangely combines both makeup application and a bit of racing in its gameplay. 

Similar to String Pull, Makeup Battle is pretty straightforward in its mechanics—although there’s no other game mode you can enjoy. You simply need to have good judgment when it comes to choosing the right designs in order to score high points and beat your opponents. However, this game can be annoying with the number of ads it plays.

Take note of the overall themes

In Makeup Battle, your goal is to follow the chosen theme for each level in order to get a high score and outrank your AI enemy. These themes can be of famous characters or just some common adjectives. There are four stages in each level—the eye shadow, lipstick, earrings, and hairstyle—that will prompt you to choose a design from four options that would best fit the current theme.

Graphics-wise, the game is pretty straightforward with its 3D art—albeit a bit uncanny-looking with its human models. After all, disembodied floating heads running down a catwalk can be unnerving despite the gameplay concept. The over-the-top makeup designs can look too much, as well. The gameplay is pretty easy, though, as you just have to choose a style and tap “Apply” to add it to your model.

However, while the game isn’t that hard to understand, it can be a hassle to play as it often shows ads even as you complete a level. This can break your immersion and concentration—and it doesn’t help that each stage in a level has a timer you have to catch up to. There is also no other game mode you can try out.

Needs to tone down on the ads

All in all, Makeup Battle is an easy-to-play mobile game but it’s not really the best out there. The concept is simple and you just need to choose preset designs for your makeup style. However, not only do the graphics look a bit uncanny, but the sheer number of ads that pop up every time you play makes it hard to keep completing each new level.
